Background information and explanation of zip terms:
A zip is formed by 2 rows of metal or plastic 'teeth'. One side has a tooth structure and the other side has notches.
When a zip slider or 'lip' is pulled, these teeth are joined together or separated. When the zip closes, the teeth are hooked together across the top of the plates on the other side. The incision/groove in the next teeth ensures that the zip stays closed.
