ESVO is the market leader in waterproof nylon fabric, due to its market position and low prices. Below is our range of waterproof nylon fabric by the metre. Lightweight: weights from 64 - 112 gr/m², also ripstop nylon fabric. Colours can always differ slightly from the pictures. And of course we have all the necessary materials to make the waterproof nylon fabrics yourself. From heavy-duty sewing thread and zips to tent tape/ webbing and eyelets, D-rings and so on. We also have ripstop nylon fabric: material for general use as well as tent fabric.
In particular, this is the case with ripstop fabric in the areas of tensile strength and tear resistance (values of 6.6. with a ripstop spacing of approx. 4mm). These stronger properties of ripstop prevent the fabric from tearing further when exposed to strong winds or a shop hook. Ripstop nylon fabric can be identified by a square grid in the weave.
We have several types of this waterproof ripstop nylon fabric: with an elastomer coating or a polyurethane (p.u.)coating. The silicone coating of the nylon fabric (3-ply) or the polyurethane coating of the polyester fabric provides waterproof properties, including UV stability.
Ripstop nylon is a specially woven, lightweight nylon fabric. The lattice weave resists possible tearing of the fabric in a special way. Ripstop nylon has an extra thick thread woven into the fabric every few millimetres. This creates a kind of square pattern. This fabric structure protects the fabric from tearing simply because the thicker threads (read: warp threads) are of stronger quality. Ripstop nylon is a separate nylon fabric that is much stronger because of this weave pattern. Our waterproof ripstop nylon fabric is used as tent fabric, but also as e.g. kite fabric.
Nylon tent fabric is mainly used for tents or tarpaulins that need to be taken down quickly. It is lightweight, strong, waterproof and flexible in cold conditions. When it has rained, you shake out the outer tent in the morning and can roll it up immediately without adding bulk.
The durability of nylon is not as long as that of (lightweight) cotton. Nylon is more sensitive to UV rays than polyester, but in quality tents the fabric is treated with a UV ray resistant layer on the outside. Nylon tent fabric is made waterproof by a coating on the inside of the fabric. Unfortunately, the fabric cannot breathe and without good ventilation you will have problems with condensation.
Nylon fabric is used in tents, sails, parasails, kites, parachutes, hot air balloons, flags, sportswear and camping equipment, including sleeping bags. Typically, however, tents that use ripstop nylon are a little more expensive in price.
We supply nylon fabric by the metre: from 1 metre and thereafter per each 10 cm. On request, we can provide you with the technical properties regarding tensile strength and tear resistance of our nylon fabric or ripstop nylon fabric. We imagine that you may have questions about nylon fabric in general or about a specific waterproof fabric. In this case, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or 0031299-363695.
Yours sincerely,
the ESVO team
