Why this polyester/cotton sewing thread for waterproof outdoor fabrics

This thread is not a standard sewing thread. The polyester component of the tenting thread must ensure durability, while a cotton component must allow the sewing thread to 'swell', so that the stitching is 100% waterproof. The famous Rasant WR polyester/cotton sewing thread from the German quality brand Amann is water-repellent and is used, among other things, as a durable tent thread. Generally speaking, the polyester component provides the durability and the cotton fibres ensure that a stitch remains waterproof, as it swells as soon as it gets damp.

Applications of this water-repellent sewing thread

Rasant sewing thread is mainly used as sewing thread for boat covers, boat roofs, caravan awnings and shade cloths*.
