What is important for the self insertion of the Prym eyelets?  

If you strike the eyelets in cloth, canvas or other fabrics yourself, then the eyelets need 'meat' as a grip, to prevent tearing out. Especially when in practice there is some tension on the eyelets in the canvas. If this is the case, ESVO has various types of twill strap and reinforcement strap to attach behind the canvas. You can either cut the reinforcement band into small pieces of e.g. 2cm (and then beat the reinforcement band there) or stitch the reinforcement band over the entire fabric. This gives your fabric a 'frame', which is better for the distribution of the force. Then you hit the eyelets at the places you want.
