One of the few disadvantages of sleeping in a tent is the morning light. Especially when the sun is shining. Sleeping outside is then often not an option. One solution is to use inner tent fabric as a blackout fabric for the sleeping cabin. Darkening an inner tent or sleeping cabin with inner tent fabric can therefore be a wonderful aid to a good night's sleep. You can use this black blackout fabric for an inner tent, among other things. The special feature of this almost black inner tent fabric is that the polyester retains the warmth in the inner tent and that this polyester content is not susceptible to mould*. The cotton content allows the tent to breathe and keeps the temperature inside the tent pleasant. The best of both worlds, in other words.
This blackout fabric is specially woven for use as an inner tent, sleeping cabin or sleeping tent. The separate flat weave of this inner tent fabric and the finish therefore distinguish this fabric from standard tent fabrics.
As the largest Dutch manufacturer of camping tents, we have been using this special tent fabric in our own camping tents for over 50 years. That says it all.
P.S. We also have ALL the accessories you need to make or repair an inner tent yourself! From tent tape to sewing thread. See our general menu.
* Despite this fungicidal finish, it is important to keep the inner tent bone-dry at all times. Mould likes moisture and particles that has fallen on or into the fabric.
As already mentioned, our inner tent fabric is slightly water-repellent and therefore impregnated to repel mould. As soon as the sleeping cabin of a tent is put in the washing machine, this impregnation is washed out. There is also the possibility that the inner tent will shrink slightly after drying. After all, the fabric contains cotton. In practice, this shrinkage can be compensated for by the rubber rings that are often used to hang a sleeping cabin in a tent or trailer tent.
If the fabric has nevertheless become dirty or stained and you decide to wash the inner tent again: set the washing machine to the ‘delicate’ programme and wash for a SHORT time at 20 degrees. Then rinse well with plenty of water and leave the sleeping cabin to air dry for a long time.
You can order this special inner tent fabric in rolls or made to measure: we cut from 10 centimetres.
The price quoted is per running metre.
